i end up blogging from work and i never get those photos up......
this weekend was entertaining out of town guests AGAIN! actually, one of the seattle-ites who stayed with me a month ago was back with her wife, also a friend. while she was working, her wife, another girl and myself spent the day at candle cafe and the cloisters in NYC. then met up with her after work, along with some other friends (including one from boston) for an amazing dinner at udipi palace.
so there were about 7 of us in total - and i thought we should go to Lips (actually - out of the seven of us, i was one of the two straight girls in the group!) since you need to eat dinner to get a table there, and we were overstuffed, we went to Rubyfruit. i am openminded but i obviously lead a very sheltered life. it was the first time i have ever been in a lesbian bar!!! actually, it was quite fun - great drinks, awesome songs on the jukebox, and no guys bothering us! we had waaaaaaayyyyyy too much to drink! and the martinis went from vodka with flavored mixers to pure vodka after *ahem* someone gave the bartender a $10 tip (not me - i swear!) but i think the person was fearful the bartender was about to cut us off, since we had a LOT....
it really was a fun evening, and i wish these people lived a lot closer!!!
so now all hands on deck for Monica's wedding next sunday in New Hope PA!!! I need to finish the shawl meant to wear with the bridesmaid dress, so i have a lot to do! other than that, i think all preparations are set.... just packing up the stuff for the weekend when it gets closer.
the weekend after the wedding i am conflicted on what to do..... i could go to PA to do a charity walk for farm animals with some vegetarian friends -- meeting two online people that i would love to see, and raising money for a good cause....
i could go to rhinebeck NY -- which can cause conflict (if i am walking past the "lamb bits" food vendor) or heartbreak/bankruptcy with my yarn diet in place....
or i could do neither and stay home, rest up, relax and knit.... (normally i would consider the insane option of BOTH the walk and the S&W festival, but my schedule has been so hectic i can't even think that....)
any votes are welcome (of course knowing mostly knitters come here, i can expect what your answers are....) but feel free to try to surprise or pursuade me.
i'll try to check in before the wedding, but i may be fiendishly knitting that shawl instead (thank goddess i didn't follow through with the idea of an abfab afghan for a wedding present!!)
What? Who was there? Someone from Boston, and not me??? Why did I not hear about all of this fun? What was I doing last weekend... oh yeah, wool festival in Vermont, but I could have skipped that. :(
