ok ok enough guest blogging, cutie pie!! this isn't wendyknits! glad your family is happy!

my friend is taking her allergy meds and it's not so bad, and she is in love with kitten so who can blame her??

no news on the knitting front. except i went to pagan pride in NYC last weekend and knit waiting for the ferry and made many new friends! first an indian woman who never saw anyone knit continental, and she even tried a stitch or two doing it that way! then a woman from germany talked to both of us briefly.

on the way back, a woman talked to me for about 20 minutes until the ferry came. she was there with her husband and son who was interviewing in NYC that week. None of them are very familiar with the ferry and the city - so the knitting brought her in but mostly we talked about commuting. her son was pretty cute and lives near me - i think she was trying to set us up! only, my mother would have done a much better job. the mother introduced us but then monopolized the rest of the conversation. on the ferry itself i talked to the son more (i don't even remember his name, but his mom was diana!) but left with no exchange of numbers.

(my mom would have said "oh you live near her? you two should get together for a drink!" and MADE us exchange #s!!!)

so - that was that, who knows if i'll ever run into him again. maybe his mom reads knitting blogs!

so for pagan pride day --- it was good - a big increase in attendees - i think they estimate 10,000???? but you have to realize it's a public park, and a lot of people walking through were just getting to the statue of liberty ferry.

it was a slightly different location in the park, more foot traffic, fewer seats and not as good for the stage. they had some bands, a talk by margot adler, drumming, and a closing ceremony (i wasn't there for the beginning, don't know if there was an opening ceremony.) last years ceremony was much better in my opinion - larger area (with fewer through traffic) and it went on and on and on... this time was good but shorter.

lots of good vendors! i bought a few things - a purse, a sarong and top set, earrings, magnets with chinese characters on them. (i'm a sucker. i wish i could have avoided buying anything!)

i donated to kitty kind and to the nyc pp chapter. i sat in on a mini workshop on the medicine wheel. and talked to isaac bonewitz (sp?)

worst thing: during the PUBLIC ritual, a woman did not want to be photographed and motioned "no" to some tourists. then told me if i didn't want to be photographed to give them the finger. (yeah that's the impression we want to give!)

best thing: during same ritual, calling directions, after a line about the tiger who always wears the colors of fall, a passerby said "i wear white". a quick witted girl next to me retorted with "i wear respect for others"

i had dinner at a veggie restaurant with a friend - not points friendly, but it was really good!

i may try to volunteer for next years, or maybe try to get something going in NJ..... i really want to find like minded people close to me to hang out with, form study groups, etc. i am on the mailing list for the pagan and witches meetups but i am afraid i'll be the only one there.... ah well.

Glad you had a good pride! Ours in DC had to be relocated because of Ivan and was cramped, but fun.
