sigh. i can't wait for happy hour. i'm here another 1.5 hours then the bar.

new issue of knitty!! yay! several things are definately on my to-do list! there are several easy sweaters or tanks for my virgin attempt! and how damn cute is that apron!

last night was our SnB - we tried a new place to meet, Cafe Arabica in Morristown. it may be a chain - but they have YUMMY food (hummus! and veggie appetizers galore!) and even MORE YUMMY desert! (peanut butter silk pie!) The atmosphere was awesome, kinda like starbucks with arabian influences. big comfy couches and chairs. There is smoking (from hookahs) but the air wasn't nearly as smelly or foggy as at the town grind. the really tall ceilings helped!

the group was fun - we actually had so much fun chatting we almost didn't knit!!! we were just talking (some about knitting) and eating, but when a newer member (jen) showed up we figured we were obligated to knit. all i did was a swatch for the cobweb frill with nicole's sonata from Elann (to decide if I wanted to purchase some to make it). i thoroughly embarassed myself by not having cash for the second time at SNB at a place that does not accept credit cards!!! jen was amazing and lent me money, and i feel so bad that i can't repay her right away!

it was a ton of fun - we were there for over 3 hours! when nicole and i left the parking garage at headquarters, we didn't know there were parking stampers availble in the hotel or bennigans, and had to pay full price. much to my chagrin, the parking was $8! and i only had $4 on me ($2 of which i owe kendra - kendra remind me tomorrow!!) just when i thought i'd have to borrow MORE money from nicole (in the car behind me luckily) the guy said "do you have a credit card?"

WHAT kind of world is this that an established, chain (?) restaurant that serves full meals does not accept credit cards, and the parking garage does???? ARGH!

ok rant over.

lesson learned - next week we WILL get our tickets stamped!

and maybe we'll even knit a little.

not much new on the knitting front. i am trying to get something - anything - that is on needles finished. this week i've been busy and haven't been doing much knitting, but i am halfway through the fuzzy purse.

earlier this week i saw a post on a message board about a going out of business sale at charmcitykids. now there's not much left, but there was a litte more earlier in the week, and i placed a big order.

denim silk in light blue denim - 5 skeins - just looked cool. $3.00 each

cascade pima tencel in bright blue, bright yellow, and white - 4 skeins each. i thought it may make a cool striped top for summer. then i realized i don't want to wear stripes, so maybe something for mom. and i had no idea how many skeins i'd need, but at $2.50 a pop i figured why not.

mango moon yarn - this sounds so..... sexy. politically correct. and more! it's made from recycled silk saris, and supports underprivleged women in nepal. the color will be a mystery (i think you can order by color on their site, but not charmcitykids!) but i got 4 skeins at $10. i should have gotten more, but was trying to keep the price of the order down.

and - a few borrocco books (#224, 225, and 220) New for Spring 2004, and Individualist; and Vogue weekend knits - knitting "on the go".

pretty much everything was 50% off the original listed price, so i got a great deal! can't wait for the package to arrive!

oh, that's right. i need to finish something first.
